POT PIE // PRØHBTD - Season 3
w/ Celebrity Chef Brandin LeShea
Actress-comedian Sara Weinshenk previously proved she can conduct science experiments while high, but is she equally adept at cooking after enjoying an infused Mood33 beverage? Chef-host Brandin LaShea aims to find out when Sara joins her in the kitchen to make potato latkes in a special Hanukkah edition of Pot Pie. Spoiler alert: Sara must learn to become a mouth breather, but she makes up for it by explaining which large mammal thinks humans are cute.
Christmas started as a commemoration of Christ's birth, but in this special holiday edition of Pot Pie, don't expect HOLYCHILD singer Liz Nistico to bust out "Joy to the World." Rather, the artist behind the feminist sex anthem "Bathroom Bitch" prefers the Joy crafted by Mood33. The infused beverage, made with yerba mate leaves, fresh peppermint and dried lemon peel, can serve as a vodka replacement, and chef-host Brandin LaShea welcomes Nistico with a Mood33 Moscow Mule. The duo then proceed to make munchies-ready Christmas butter cookies.
While decorating one of their blessed baked goods, Nistico jokes, "I'm trying to make something for the Louvre," to which LaShea laughs, "It looks like a Halloween cookie."
Mood33 Mules clearly have some kick.
"I lost my Cheeto virginity today," actress-musician Cartier Lee tells chef-host Brandin LaShea. In a special New Year's Eve episode, the Mood33-drinking guest turns Pot Pie into a crazy AF pizza party as she discusses cooking with a sex face, what's worse than grandma's nipples and how Cheetos-covered men inspired her "virginity" loss. Forget the champagne, ring in 2019 with Mood33!
"Do we do a sip, sip, pass?" jokes Ester Steinberg as she enjoys an infused Mood33 beverage. The cannabis leaf-wearing actress-comedian (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) actually seems high already when she joins chef-host Brandin LaShea in the Pot Pie kitchen to make shakshuka. Several cultures in the Mediterranean and Middle East lay claim to the original tomato-based stew, and the dish Ester calls "SHAKSHUKA!!" is one of the hottest breakfast dishes in Israel. Still, this will be the chef's first time making the dish. Can she pull it off? Watch the latest Pot Pie to find out.
Lindsay Ames, comedian and host of the Los Angeles-based reading series My Diary, joins Brandin LaShea with some upsetting ingredients (“I know,” she says as she pulls out a can of asparagus, “it sounds… just trust me”) for what the rightfully skeptical host says “feels like [it’s] suddenly a food drive.”
Watch as the two make the most of a can of mushroom soup and “depression cheese” (note: any cheese is depression cheese if you’re sad enough) to put together an egg and asparagus casserole. “It sounds disgusting,” Lindsay says of her father’s childhood recipe, “but it’s amazing.” Brandin preps for the meal with some much-needed all-natural drinks from Mood33, explaining: “To eat this, I’m gonna need to be super baked.”

Italy is famous for food and fashion, but when Marta Goldschmied visited the Pot Pie kitchen, the Italian designer hilariously showed she's better with fashion than, say, grating cheese. Marta admittedly struggled to help chef-host Brandin LaShea make mac 'n' cheese, but pairing the experience with infused Mood33beverages clearly elevated the kitchen and made for the tastiest mac 'n' cheese ever.
In this episode of Pot Pie, host Brandin LaShea welcomes comedian Simon Gibson and his blue bag of surprise “stuff” he grabbed at Vons the night before taping. “Honestly,” he says as he pulls out some hummus, “I was hammered last night.”
After chugging a bottle of Mood33’s THC- and CBD-infused sparkling tonics, Brandin and Simon are ready to whip together this mystery meal. “I think in my mind I had some vision of a cold noodle salad,” Simon explains before sharing his hotter-than-cold-noodles takes on fast food. (I’m with you, man—In-N-Out is not good. Sorry not sorry.)
Simon decides he won’t chug another Mood33 drink before doing exactly that and then comparing the hummus-glazed cold noodles Brandin has plated and topped with green onions to "the new Avengers.” His drunken intuition, paired with Brandin’s finely honed culinary skills, definitely ends up not leading the pair astray as they demonstrate how to easily make a yummy dinner out of back-of-the-fridge ingredients.

“Cannabis-infused beverages are making a stir in big business. In 2018, Constellation Brands -- purveyors of Corona beer and Svedka vodka -- invested $4 billion in a Canadian marijuana company. And in December, Anheuser-Busch InBev announced a $100 million project to develop cannabis beverages. That might feel like fierce competition for cannabis-bev entrepreneurs, but Michael Christopher simply sees it as proof that his timing is right. Last year, he launched Mood33, a California-based startup that sells cannabis-infused sparkling tonics. To stand out, he’s positioning his drink as a wellness product, focusing on health benefits and natural ingredients rather than pushing the buzz the beverage delivers. Here’s how he created packaging for an elixir that’s more about getting healthy than getting high.”
“mood33 is excited to announce it will be showcasing its line of award-winning cannabis infused sparkling beverages at California’s annual Hall of Flowers brand showcase and the leading B2B buyers trade show for consumer facing brands in that state on April 30th-May 1st at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds in Santa Rosa, CA .
The brand is excited to announce the launch and pre-sale of its fourth ‘mood’, a line extension to it ready-to-drink cannabis infused sparkling beverage line that celebrates a high 10:1 CBD to THC ratio with 20 mg CBD and 2 mg THC per bottle dose, formulated for wellness seeking consumers interested in a euphoria-free cannabis experience rich in added wellness benefits of cannabis-derived cannabidiol and synergistic terpenes. The company will be accepting pre-orders for this new SKU exclusively at Hall of Flowers for May delivery to licensed retailers throughout the state.”

“California's premier innovator in cannabis-infused beverages, was among the winners of the 2018 Beverage Digest Awards, announced Monday. mood33 won both the Best Premium Drink and Best New Drink Concept categories, beating out dozens of globally recognized brands. This is the first time that Beverage Digest has granted an award to a cannabis beverage in the history of its annual awards. In fact, it's also incredibly rare for one brand to win two Beverage Digest Awards in the same year.”
“mood33’s line of sparkling herbal beverages contains all-natural ingredients, tailored dose ratios of THC and CBD, and only 33 calories per 12oz bottle. The brand was created as an attractive smoke-free choice for the cannabis consumer living a healthy and active lifestyle. “
“Move over kombucha! As a representative for mood33, a cannabis-infused “functional beverage” herbal tonic company says, “We know that the modern consumer is actively searching for ways to reduce their alcohol consumption and the adverse effects that come with overconsumption, drunk driving, and hangovers.”
“Once consumers realize that cannabis can be consumed like an alcoholic beverage via products like mood33, we will see even more demand for cannabis beverages – as we expect the cannabis beverage category to consist of 20-25% of the overall market share within the next 5-7 years due to these developments and elements of market/category maturation,” mood33 adds.”
“Grossman of Papa & Barkley shared with me that a good friend of his was able to wean himself off the benzodiazepine Klonopin using the company’s cannabis tincture. And just as Papa & Barkley is offering cannabis alternatives to opiates and benzos, beverage companies such as California Dreamin', a low-dose cannabis soda, and Mood33, cannabis-infused sparkling tonics, are offering cannabis users an alternative to alcohol that they can sip on. Not too long ago, at a friend’s wedding in Boulder, I was delighted to learn I could drink cannabis tonic from a champagne glass and join in a toast without drinking alcohol. And yes, I like the high; I’m not about to pretend I like weed solely for its medicinal benefits.”
“With Americans more stressed than ever before, Schnell envisions a not-too-distant future in which social occasions seek alternative refreshments. Switching from caffeine products to alcohol isn’t always the most seamless of handoffs, and in many ways, indicative of the modern work lifestyle. Mood 33 is betting on Americans opting for a cannabis can in lieu of a Coors, or maybe even shaking up the family barbecue.”
“Artistic elements like palm trees, surfboards, driftwood, and bright pastels have always screamed “California” -- now these aesthetics are dominating the cannabis industry. Brands are embodying the beach and surf culture in order to become synonymous with the West Coast mentality. Caliva’s palm tree-clad packages dominate the Bay area and much of southern California. Walking into its dispensary home base in San Jose feels much like entering a surf shop. Cold fizzy drinks are also a big hit year-round with the California crowd, like the fruity, low-calorie natural beverages from Mood33, and California Dreamin' low-dose sodas.”
Cheddar was kind enough to host mood33’s Chief Mood Officer, Michael Christopher, to discuss the recent summer launch, why cannabis infused beverages are so exciting and why cannabis products should brand themselves for the modern, wellness focused consumer seeking functional, mood-enhancing benefits.
